Dear Sirs,

It has been my privilege and pleasure to have served as Provincial Grand Primo of the West Cornwall Province during 2005 and 1 would take this opportunity through your publication to report on my year in this high and distinguished office.

I should firstly I like to say a few words about the two Organisations 1 have chosen to benefit from the proceeds of my appeal.

St Julias Hospice is, as the name would suggest a care centre for anyone suffering from any form of cancer and or terminal illness and provides an exceptional and compassionate service for both patients and their families. Regrettably several members of the Order in the West Cornwall Province and of the R. A.0. B. Institute Penzance have had to call on the services offered by St Julias and 1 can only give the highest praise to this organisation and its staff for their dedicated and dignified care to whoever should need their help.

The John Daniels Day Centre Penzance provides both Educational and Recreational facilities for Children and Adults with special needs and or leaning difficulties and like the Organisation, mentioned above is sadly greatly under funded for the service it provides. Again, there are members of the Order and of the R.A.0.B. Institute who have relatives and loved ones who need the services provided by this centre.

Knowing what these two organisations are providing at local level, I had no hesitation that the proceeds of my fundraising appeal would be shared between them.

And so to the fund raising, which as anyone involved will tell you is very hard but worthwhile work that started with several raffles.

The prizes for these in the main consisted of donated goods and to all of those who contributed you have my most grateful thanks. There were also a number of events through the year, which included a sponsored walk, sponsored parachute jump, open day at the R.A.0.B Institute Penzance and a Harvest Home Auction. Several car boot sales also had money coining in, as did the sale of Lapel pin‑badges and key rings with my appeal year logo on display.

I should like to thank in particular the following for their support, contributions, and hard work. Sedgeman Scaffolding, Ansom Moore, Newlyn. Varfell Farm, Long Rock. J. H Turner & Son Fish merchants, Newlyn, Penzance. Sisleys Cornish Preserves, Penzance. Penzance Taxis. Trelawney Cars, Penzance. Penlee Bowling Club, Penzance. GMO Cars, Penzance. The Breweries Diagio and Coors. The parachute jumpers. The sponsored walkers. Donators. Stallholders and helpers at the R.A.0.B. open day. Donators, purchasers and the Auctioneer at the Harvest Home evening. To the Manager Mark and his staff at Booker cash and carry Hayle. To all the Associate members of the R. A. 0. B. Club including the Bingo Club. To all the Lodges of the West Cornwall Province. To Eddie Jones, Clive Cash, Paul Michael and Johnny Cowling, four local entertainers who gave their time and talent free of charge for an evening of fantastic entertainment which raised a large sum of money on the night. These are some of the people who have helped me through this year and since it would be impossible to name every individual I must give a "blanket" thank you to all who have given me support and my apologies to those who feel they should have been named but whose names do not appear.

My Final thanks is the biggest of all and goes to my family and in particular to my wife Joy for her help, understanding and support through gladness, sadness, indifference, early morning starts, late

nights, mood swings and all that goes with being the wife of a Provincial Grand Primo.

All that is now left is the memory of everyone's hard graft and efforts and of course, to present the monies raised to my two nominated Charities.

The total sum raised was a staggering £21,321.56. To be shared equally between the two Charities.

Thank you one and all alike for a wonderful year in office.

Brother John May ROH.

Past Provincial Grand Primo.
